Caring for someone with IBD

Looking after yourself

Caring for someone with IBD, whether it’s your partner, child or friend can be both demanding and stressful. It is important to take time for yourself so you can keep supporting your loved one. See the National Prescribing Services’ tips for carers looking after someone with a chronic condition like IBD.

The Department of Health also has information for carers on how to look after yourself and where to get further information.

Who to talk to?

If you want someone to talk to about your health or your role as a carer, your GP is a good place to start. Write down a list of questions and what is troubling you so you are prepared beforehand.
